Minx - Disco Mondo '78

Tasty German Disco but with
middle eastern influence
on track one and world music
to follow.
Very Rare and hard to find
as well.
Back in the mid 80's
we played "Istambul" at the
point in the night
when everybody was drunk.
The waiters would escort
the sexy ladies to the dance floor.
Creating a circle they would
take turns Dancing with each one
in the center
doing a sexy middle eastern style dance...
The chicks loved it.
Other tracks vary in style
including the beautiful
Brazilian slice
Tristeza-Goodbye.

Loved the story about playing the Istanbul track!

A low bitrate rip of this album surfaced a few years back and I have kept my fingers crossed that a CD issue would eventually surface or some kind soul would provide a better quality version - well, that has finally happened!

Istanbul and Zanzibar are probably the stand out tracks but I have a real soft spot for the Greensleeves cover!

Of course, the man behind this Ralf Nowy needs no introduction to disco fans - albums like Methusalem and Tender Aggression are classics (though I have never heard the 2nd Tender Aggression LP sadly) and actually, there is a real German progressive rock pedigree on this album with not only Nowy producing this but Kristian Schultze on keyboards and I am pretty sure some of the other musicians were in prog-rock bands - it does explain why the music is so tight.

So happy to finally hear this in a higher bitrate than 160kbps - I'm sure it will be surface in the future on a number of disco-cosmic-electronic music blogs (minus the rip source credit of course!) - many thanks for this one, Paul.

I thought I had already thanked you for Disco Minx - old age must be kicking in! So thank you! It is great to finally replace the old 160kbps rip I had for ages with a brand spanking 320 one! Would have loved to have been there when you dropped Istanbul! Sounds wonderful!

This is what I like about your blog, there are always some great surprises!
